January 27, 2017 – Armstrong’s newest community service project is well underway. Healing Heroes, is a partnership program with Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs to provide a highly-trained service dog to qualifying disabled veterans in our communities struggling with disabilities such as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Traumatic Brain Injuries, seizure disorders, and more.
Armstrong’s Healing Heroes has two goals in 2017. There first goal is to raise enough funds to donate at least 5 service dogs to qualifying disabled veterans within the communities we serve. Armstrong will be matching the funds donated to reach our goal. The second goal of Healing Heroes is to raise awareness of veterans’ needs. Statistically, 22 veterans suffering from PTSD and TBI commit suicide every day. After a veteran has been paired with a service dog, there has not been a suicide and there has been significant improvement in their lives.
“We are proud to announce our new community service initiative, Armstrong’s Healing Heroes. With the help of our communities, customers, and employees, we aim to make a difference in the lives of disabled veterans in the communities we serve,” stated Jeff A. Ross, Armstrong President.
