They will be performing Lindsay Price’s Box, which discusses the social constraints of middle school and how students overcome those problems.
James W. Parker Middle School teacher and play director Julia McCollum said she did the play this year to highlight middle school talents that aren’t seen on a day-to-day basis.
“It is very rewarding to see students shine that may or may not have singing abilities,” McCollum said. “The play Box really hits home to our district and the students at our middle school. Many students feel like they might need to fit into a box but they should not have to feel this way. This show models how students feel when they are restricted to their box.”
Auditions were held during the second week of September and the cast is now complete. The cast list is Tobeigh Ingram, Chloe Kiser, Alie Jones, Shane Dexter, Myles Bruce, Ethan McCarthy, Ramey Plouse, Owen Eisert, Chloe Miles, Ellie Baughman, Ryan McLaughlin, Ainsley Puller, Parker Irwin, Sophia Allison, JC Williams, Pacey Moran, Alena Swanson and Sarah Rice.
Box will take place November 9th at 7 p.m. and November 10th at 2 p.m. in the Large Group Instruction Room (LGI) at James W. Parker Middle School.
There is a suggested $2 donation at the door.
This play is in addition to James W. Parker Middle School’s spring musical. This year’s musical, Fiddler on the Roof Jr., takes place February 22 – 23, 2019.
