Daniel and Shirley spent the first years of their marriage living in apartments, first in Millcreek, on Beechgrove Drive, then later in Erie, on Liberty Street, when their first daughter was born. Before the birth of their second daughter, they moved to Franklin Center, then in 1973 moved to Mohawk Road, where they spent the rest of their married life together.

Daniel was employed by Lord Corporation of Erie for 37 years and retired on December 31, 2003. After retirement, he became well known for the beautiful wood scrollwork he made. He recently began attending Franklin Center United Methodist Church.
