David Michael Kertis

U.S. Army logoDavid Michael Kertis, 67, of Edinboro, died Thursday, January 21, 2016 at UPMC Hamot. Born February 1, 1948, in Indiana, PA, son of the late Rev. Andrew J. and Mary Kertis.

David was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School and attended classes at Duquesne University and San Diego Mesa College.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a member of the Presidential Honor Guard. He attained the rank of sergeant in 1968 serving in Vietnam where he was awarded numerous medals including, the Bronze Star for Valor, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross. He was a retired carpenter and member of the Edinboro McKean VFW.

Survived by his wife, Margo Kertis; a son, Michael Anthony Kertis of New Mexico; a daughter, Nichole Marie Barton and her husband, Cole, of Texas; four sisters, Andrea J. Kertis; Nadine Kubiak and her husband, Lenny; Carol Morgan and her husband, Jeff; Marilyn Crandall and her husband, Dean; also many cherished friends, nieces, nephews who loved and will greatly miss him.

David is now united with his son, Aucassin Aric Kertis, his parents, and two brothers, Orestes and Eugene Kertis who preceded him in death.

David loved his family and friends. He lived life to the fullest, always giving to others expecting nothing in return.

Following David’s wishes, no viewing or services will be held at this time.
