She also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh sports teams, crossword puzzles, Words with Friends, and was an avid reader. Her other passion was teaching, where she spent over 30 years working with students in school districts in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi since 1981 and the Shadbush Club of Edinboro. Denise was also a member of the Edinboro United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael (Heather) Minor, of Pittsburgh and Todd (April) Minor, of Severna Park, Maryland; a step-daughter, Kimberly (Kevin) Safreed of Antioch, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Halie, Colin, Jackson and Lincoln; 3 great grandchildren, Connor, Matthew and Gracie; and many nieces and nephews. She was a beloved wife to the late Edwin Thomas Winter, who lost his life protecting this country, and then again she showed incredible compassion with the late David William Minor, as she cared for him in his time of need.
