Vince Trotta, long-time resident of Edinboro and an Edinboro University Associate Professor and manager, was inducted into the Muskies Inc. (MI) Hall of Fame at its annual banquet held in Bloomington, Minnesota on January 27th.
In the early 1970s, he started fishing for Muskies in Edinboro Lake and carried that activity to Minnesota when he moved there in 1990. The 52-year-old MI organization has expanded to over 6,000 Members and 50 independent local chapters throughout the country.
As a Muskies, Inc. member, he served on the Chapter 1 Board of Directors, was a national “Muskie” magazine field editor and, gradually, became the curator of the national organization’s growing archive. The archives eventually filled a large space in Trotta’s basement and the role of MI Archivist was inaugurated. He, as Archivist, and co-chair of the History Committee and the other members of the Committee organized to satisfy the requests for information regarding MI. Vince was also one of the Chapter 1 photographers, digitally preserving the photographs for the archive.
Vince and his wife, Mary Jane, also a successful Muskie angler, reside in Apple Valley MN.
