Goodell Gardens & Homestead presents 5th Annual Botanical Beverages Cocktail party benefiting Edinboro’s public garden to be held July 20, 2019
EDINBORO – Goodell Gardens & Homestead is preparing for their fifth annual installment of Botanical Beverages, from gardens to glass. The fundraising cocktail party will be held in the Gardens on Saturday, July 20, from 6:30 – 10 p.m.
The event, which Goodell Gardens Executive Director Amber Wellington describes as “a garden cocktail party that tricks you into learning,” pairs cocktails with the plants used to make them. Wellington was inspired to start the event when she read Amy Stewart’s The Drunken Botanist in 2015.
“We are so excited to celebrate five years of Botanical Beverages,” Wellington said. “This year the event features five bars, four with cocktails and the fifth with coffee for the end of the night. This year we’re celebrating the mint family of plants: Lamiaceae. Our cocktail bars will each feature one herb from the mint family: lavender, wild mint, sage, and oregano.”
Each ticket holder will receive their choice of cocktails, one from each bar, made with locally-distilled spirits from the award-winning Cart/Horse Distilling in Edinboro. Cart/Horse’s Root Digger cordial recently won a silver metal from the American Distilling Institute’s 2019 Craft Distilling Awards. Alcohol-free mocktails will be available to designated drivers and folks who choose not to imbibe.
Live music from the Celtic Hooligans will fill the Gardens during the event, hors d’oeuvres will be served, and lawn games will be set up for attendees to enjoy.
“Bot Bevs is always a beautiful evening in the Gardens,” Wellington said. “We decorate the gardens and place the bars throughout the lawns and beds, so folks really get a tour of the site during those magical evening hours. We really want folks to have a chance to enjoy the gardens at a time they normally aren’t able to visit.”
Tickets for Botanical Beverages are on sale now, and are $55 per person ($45 for members of Goodell Gardens), $35 for designated drivers ($30 for members). For more information, or to purchase your tickets, visit www.goodellgardens.org/botbevs or call (814) 734-6699.
