James Arthur Post, 76, of Fairview, died Monday, November 6, 2017 at Edinboro Manor. He was born in Erie on May 3, 1941, the son of Arthur Post and the late Luella (Woodard) Post.
He was the owner of Fitting Lumber Company in Erie for many years. He attended Strong Vincent High School, then Gannon College where he earned a degree in Accounting.
He is fondly remembered for his love of spoiling his grandsons, especially in the summer with fishing from the boat, golf outings and lots of snacks. They also recall adventures in ice fishing, playing basketball in the driveway, riding in the tractor trailer around the yard, playing the creek, mischief at Mickey D’s and trips to Buffalo to the rock climbing wall, the hobby store and bike rides around Presque Isle. Jim also enjoyed golfing, sailing, woodworking, fishing and puttering with antique cars.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Ann (Gutowski) Post and a brother, Robert Post.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Knox, of Edinboro; one son, Robert (Debbie) Post of Tennessee; and three grandsons, Ian (Heather) and Adam Knox, and Andrew Post.
No calling hours will be observed. A private memorial service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro PA 16412.
