Pennsylvania Fair Guides Now Available

By Rep. John Evans (R-Erie/Crawford)

Did you know that Pennsylvania fairs, like the Crawford County Fair and the Albion Area Fair attract thousands of visitors, not only from our local area but from the tri-state area?

In addition to these two local favorites, more than 100 fairs and community festivals occur throughout the Commonwealth each year and draw millions of guests each year. The majority of fairs are scheduled in July, August and September, so they can showcase the very best of the agriculture products in their communities.

Locally, the Crawford County Fair is scheduled Aug. 20-27, and the Albion Area Fair is set for Sept. 13-17.

To find out more about the variety of fairs, pick up a free copy of the 2011 Pennsylvania Fair Guide, which is published by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The guide, available at my district offices or on my website at, lists the dates, locations and contact persons for more than 100 agriculture fairs and events scheduled this summer and fall in Pennsylvania.

The guide also lists the fairs with harness racing, because Pennsylvania is considered to have the best fair racing program in the country. Crawford County has one of the 16 venues for this event.

The guides are available at 123 Meadville St., Edinboro, at (814) 734-2793; at 4880 Birchdale Drive, Girard, at (814) 774-2892; or at 158 West Erie St., Linesville, at (814) 683-5550.
