Lancer Letter – Peace Calm Quiet

Submitted by Richard Scaletta, GM School District

Christmas-greeting-WEBPeace. Calm. Quiet.
Classrooms abuzz.
Little ones fraught with anticipation.
Electricity in the air.

Peace. Calm. Quiet.
Special programs.
Special projects.
Special effort to address less fortunate families.

Peace. Calm. Quiet.
Curriculum to cover.
Only ten days left to the semester after Christmas.
Keep the pace. Keep the pace.

Peace. Calm. Quiet.
More shopping to do.
Cookies to bake.
Plans to be made.

Peace. Calm. Quiet.
Presents to wrap.
Meals to be planned.
Final decorations to be placed.

Peace. Calm. Quiet.
Run, run, run.
Get it all done.

Peace. Calm. Quiet.

My wish for you this holiday season is that you will set aside a small block of time for yourself. Quietly play music of the season in the background and sit in only the light of your Christmas tree. Sip a cup of cocoa, coffee or tea. Just be. Just be.

May the Peace of this special time, Calm your heart and Quiet your mind.

Merry Christmas.

The Lancer Letter is a weekly editorial by Richard Scaletta, Superintendent of Schools, General McLane School District. Opinions expressed are Mr. Scaletta’s views on the issues and subjects of discussion.
