Message of Faith – Celebrate Life!

Life is meant to be celebrated! What comes up within you when you hear that statement? Lots of things come to my mind. Have you seen the news lately; you do know that the world economy is a mess don’t you; don’t stick your head in the sand; the government is in crisis; people are starving.

When those thoughts arise, I am reminded of a statement that Jesus made, “There will always be wars and rumors of wars.” Bad things happen. It is not my intention to minimize the pain that people experience, and yet I know that blessings abound.

This morning I woke up to the bird’s song. I had the opportunity to take a breath and begin my day in joy. With awareness I remember that the breath I am breathing right now has been circling the globe, shared by millions before me. Within me there are 50-75 trillion cells designed to work in harmony to create health and wholeness in my body. The intelligence and wisdom that is within me continues to reveal about 30,000 thoughts today.

Right now somewhere in our world, forgiveness is healing a relationship. Someone is receiving a diagnosis that cancer is in remission. A man who has been looking for months is landing a new job. Babies are being born. Couples are celebrating their 50 year anniversary. New understanding is arising from a conversation and a conflict is embraced and resolved. A new song is being written. A new idea is being born.

Today is filled with possibility and potential. Let me say it again. Today is filled with possibility and potential. Take a breath and catch that idea for a moment.

What will you and I focus on in life? Albert Einstein once said, “You cannot solve a problem from the same consciousness that created it. You must learn to see the world anew.” It is my intention to open up to the possibility of this moment and that means shifting my perspective so that I can see the world anew.

Here are some of the thoughts that come to me of how you and I can open to the possibility that is before us:

1. Take time to be aware of the blessings in each day.

2. Be open to having a new conversation with someone with whom I am in disagreement.

3. Sit and watch the sunrise or sunset.

4. Take a walk in the rain without worrying about getting wet.

5. Laugh…for no reason.

6. Extend a compliment to the very person whom I think is not appreciating me.

7. Pray that an apparent “enemy” is being blessed with good.

8. Take the time to take a breath before reacting in anger.

Abundant peace and blessings… Rev. Joanne
