Northwestern HS Freshman Takes First Place At Spring Motocross Championships

Joey Yuhaschek, a freshman at Northwestern High School, recently competed in the AMA sanctioned Spring Classic Motocross Championships in Pell City, Alabama.

Joey rides for and is sponsored by the Great Lakes Motocross Racing team in McKean, and Baldwin Motorsports of Kingsville, Ohio.

Joey was able to bring home a National 1st Place Championship in the 250C Modified class and an overall 2nd place finish in 250C Stock Class.

Racers came from as far away as South Africa, Australia, and Nome Alaska. All the top amateur riders across the US were in attendance.

Great Lake’s racers Mike Fisher (250B class) and Kyle Skinkis (450B class), seniors at General McLane, and the anchor riders for the Great Lakes team, managed to make it to all their main events during eliminations and finished in the top 20 in their respective classes.

All racers were anxious to get the first competition of the year down south under their belts in preparation for the march to the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur Championship in Tennessee later this summer.

All racers will be competing weekly to earn a coveted spot in that event. Joey, who is 15 years old, along with Mike and Kyle, both 18, have a very good chance to be making that trip.

Congratulations boys and good luck with the rest of your season!
